Who operates MakeYaBed

Photo check-ins

MakeYaBed uses the in-app camera for Bed made, Workout, and Doing work. It saves reduced photos and check results on your device. It does not import your photo library or save captures to your camera roll. Photos can contain people or surroundings, so avoid including confidential screens, documents, or other people's private information.

Before a photo is sent, the app asks for permission to use AI photo checks. Our Supabase service forwards the reduced image and the selected check category to Anthropic's API. The AI returns a verdict, score, and short comment. These checks assess a visible scene, not your identity, workout duration, health, or productivity.

Anthropic's commercial API policies govern its processing. Its standard policy generally deletes inputs and outputs within 30 days, with exceptions such as legal obligations and abuse prevention. API content is not used for model training by default. See Anthropic's retention policy and training policy. We do not promise immediate deletion by the AI provider.

You can turn off AI photo checks in Settings. Photos saved for a later check remain on your phone; the app retries them when reopened online only while this permission is enabled. Pending photos do not count as completed check-ins.

Progress, private backup, and reminders

Photos, timestamps, check results, berries, streaks, and reminder settings are stored on your phone. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we store an Apple account identifier as a one-way hash, plus reduced check-in photos, results, berries, and habit settings in a private Supabase backup. We do not store your Apple password or email address for this backup. The backup is used to restore your progress after a reinstall or device change and is available only after your Apple sign-in and device authentication. Without backup, removing the app may erase local photos and progress. No GPS or background location permission is requested.

Settings lets you sync, delete photos and progress from your phone and backup, or delete your account and backup. Deleting your account also removes its Friends profile and connections. If a deletion cannot reach the service, the app asks you to reconnect and try again.

Security and service records

Apple App Attest protects requests to the checker, Friends, and private backup. Our service stores installation security records and usage counters to authenticate requests, prevent abuse, and limit cost. Hosting infrastructure may process technical request information such as IP addresses and error logs. We do not put photo bodies in our server logs. Our Supabase service stores photos only for the private backup you enable and for the friend photo sharing you choose; AI checks are processed by Anthropic as described above.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog for usage analytics with a generated identifier and technical app information. Analytics help us understand app use and reminder behavior. Session replay is disabled. Photos are not sent to PostHog. We do not use analytics for advertising or sell personal data.

Earlier versions

MakeYaBed is free and has no purchase requirement. Any earlier Apple subscription is managed through your Apple Account. Removing or updating the app does not itself cancel a subscription. Settings links to Apple's subscription management.

Friends

Friends is optional. Our server stores your display name, optional profile photo, friend code, installation identifier, connections, showing-up streak, and daily completion indicators. Adding an invite code creates a mutual connection immediately. Anyone with your code can look up your display name and add you. Friends can see the habits you completed and their timestamps. If you turn on “Share photos with friends,” mutual friends can also view today's check-in photos; when it is off, they see icons instead. Your private backup photos are not visible to friends through the backup. Share your code only with people you want to connect with. Invite pages may copy the invite link to your clipboard when you choose to get the app. You can remove a friend or delete your account in Settings.

Daily quotes and notifications

The app requests a batch of public quotes from ZenQuotes and caches them on your device for daily display. ZenQuotes receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address; we do not send your photos, progress, name, or phone number. Quotes may fall back to original Bogi messages offline. If enabled, a daily bed nudge and an optional evening check-in are scheduled on your phone. The evening message updates from your local check-ins when you use the app. No SMS is sent by this version.

Sharing progress

Sharing creates an image of the selected day, month, or year. Day cards can include your check-in photos, or you can choose icons instead. Month and Year cards show aggregate progress without photos. You choose whether to copy that image to the clipboard, save it, or share it through another app such as Instagram. Copied cards expire after ten minutes and are not copied through Universal Clipboard. Content you choose to share is subject to the receiving app's policies.

Website and support

Netlify hosts our website and may process ordinary request information, including IP addresses, browser information, and access logs to deliver and secure the site. The redesigned website does not run advertising trackers or collect new waitlist signups.

If you previously joined our website waitlist, your phone number was collected for the launch notification. You can request its deletion by email. When you email support, we receive the information you choose to include and use it to respond.

Retention and service providers

Local history remains until you delete it or remove the app, subject to your device backups. A private backup remains until you delete its progress or account. Friends records remain until the profile or account is deleted. Deleting app data does not automatically erase analytics, security records, support messages, or provider backups. Those records may be retained for service operation, abuse prevention, support, and legal obligations. Contact us for help accessing, correcting, or deleting server-held information; we may need to verify that a request is yours. Providers may process information outside your country.

Service providers include Supabase for the checker, private backup, and Friends; Anthropic for AI checks; PostHog for analytics; Netlify for hosting; and ZenQuotes for quotes. We share the information needed for those functions, and may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect the service and its users.

Your choices

You can revoke camera permission in iOS Settings, disable AI photo checks or friend photo sharing in the app, delete local and backed-up progress, delete your account, or request help with server-held information by emailing makeyabed.app@gmail.com. Please do not email sensitive photos unless needed and you choose to share them.

Children and changes

MakeYaBed is not intended for children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We update the date above when this policy changes.
